M.J. Gandee Southern Landscape and Still Life Paintings

As an artist, M.J. Gandee was a bit of a late starter. In fact, she didn’t do her first painting until after her 50^th birthday. But it was love at first try. 

In 2003, she left her commercial real estate career to become a full time artist. Today, M.J. paints colorful, romantic images of southern landscapes and still life paintings that are inspired by her love of the outdoors and life long memories. 

A 3^rd generation Floridian, M.J. often paints on location (en plein aire).   Painting in a representational style, she uses rich color and brushwork to capture attention. “I enjoy the process of painting in this style and working with oil because of the versatility and strength of the medium. My goal is to give the viewer the sense of stepping into these beautiful scenes so they can escape the rush of everyday life.

Today M.J. owns Florida Artist Studio, a working studio/gallery.  The studio/gallery showcases artwork by M.J. as well as selected works by other award winning Florida artists including David Hunter and Kaye Burlason.  

Florida Artist Studio is located inside Renningers Antique Market in Mount Dora, Florida (a nationally known antique and collectible center) that attracts visitors from throughout the southeast U.S.    This non-traditional location for contemporary artists has been a success from the start.
